We all know that it is important to continue to grow and learn throughout adulthood, but take a moment to stop and ask yourself… Do you consider yourself to be actively and continually learning and growing? As they say, knowledge is power, and we as adults should never stop learning. Scientific research reveals that, more than ever before, a challenged and stimulated brain may well be the key to a vibrant later life. And who doesn’t want that?! For example, why not attend a gardening talk at your local botanical garden? Or swap a night-in blockbuster thriller for a fascinating documentary?

Here are a few other ideas to spark your imagination:

  • Non-credit academic courses – Most community colleges and Parks & Recreation programs are inexpensive resources for taking classes in sports, art, language, music, sewing, gardening…you name it!
  • Educational travel (African safari, anyone??)
  • Community service & volunteerism
  • Local or online book clubs
  • Find something that excites YOU and get started!
