Springtime in Austin is patio weather! With so many visitors in town this week and throughout the spring, a little guidance might help to find the best patio options.  Here to help, our iGnite team is sharing their favorite patios around town for eating, drinking, getting together with friends and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Molly Daniels

Molly’s Picks:

El Alma – love their patio for a Saturday afternoon margarita with friends!

Perla’s – Best champagne cocktail! I love the crab wedge salad, and the hushpuppies are a bonus too! Perfect date night spot.

Polvo’s – YUM! Fish fajitas are the BEST!

Sha Klatt

Sha’s Pick:

My husband and I love the patio at Matt’s El Rancho.

We go there for “family dinner” most Sunday nights and love catching up with our grown kids lives, sitting out by the fountain eating chips and Bob Armstrong dip. The Patio is in a classic, beautiful Mexican style with great ambiance and lots of fun energy. I even bring blankets and extra jackets for everyone if its chilly outside because we only want to eat on the patio! My husband and I often share the chicken fajita tacos, and my kids love the tostada compuestas!

Alli Phillips

Alli’s Pick:

FoodHeads – a true austin original. It is a fun, funky cafe with ample outdoor seating “on the porch” and “in the yard.”
Delish sandwiches, soups and salads and the best home made pickles on the planet. They serve unique contemporary twists on old classics with locally sourced ingredients .
LOVE this place!

Betty’s Picks:

Zax – I love Zaxs off Barton Springs Road! They have an urban garden patio walking distance from the trail.

Winflo – The patio is built under a 300 year old live oak. This Italian inspired restaurant is great for yummy pizza and great wine.

El Alma

iGnite Neissa

Neissa’s Picks:

There are plenty wonderful Austin restaurant patios where you can enjoy a nice meal outside and glass of wine. While I could name many, my two favorites are ZAX (as seen in Betty’s article) and

The Grove Wine Bar (Bee Caves location) – Set under the branches of a beautiful and giant oak tree, the patio is covered with lighting which creates the quintessential ambiance for a casual and fun meal with girlfriends or your significant other. And, they have amazing wines and delicious pizza, which certainly doesn’t hurt!

The Grove – Bee Caves

Kathleen Parker

Kathleen’s Pick:

Ski Shores by boat –

They have the best play list going all the time, cold beer, and great fried pickles.  Also LOVE the 180 degree LAKE VIEWS!!

Amy Younkman

Amy’s Picks:

Olive and June –  The patio offers an upstairs and downstairs option and is surrounded by a 200 year old oak tree. A great Italian wine list and daily menu features that focus on fresh vegetables, pasta, and platters meant to be shared.

Contigo – An east Austin restaurant modeled after Contigo Ranch in south Texas.  It is a great place to sit outside, have a beer or margarita and eat fresh, quality bar food made from fresh ingredients.

Jill Watts

Jill’s Picks:

Shady Grove – An old favorite that is nestled under the shade of a tall pecan grove. They serve Austin-inspired home-cooking including lots of different burger options and great cocktails.

Blue Dahlia – A quaint spot located in Westlake that has a really nice little patio. It is a European bistro using fresh ingredients and have great happy hour specials too.

We hope you enjoy visiting our favorite patios this spring!
