Life Without Coffee
I love coffee. I love the smell, I love the taste, I love the way it makes me feel. Some of my fondest memories involve a cup of coffee. I love coffee.
A long long time ago, before Starbucks was on every corner in America, the first place I would visit upon my return to my Homeland, was the original Starbucks on the corner of 1st and Pike in Seattle. Coffee and I go way back.

Breakfast of champions
As much as I love coffee, I know in my heart of hearts, the effect of caffeine on my digestive system is not always positive and I knew that I needed a reboot away from caffeine and the one I love.
The first day of the reboot was fantastic for about the first six hours. Then…..the headache, I needed a nap, and please somebody bring me some chips!
Day two and three were miserable. I began having bad thoughts about the reboot and anyone associated with it. I was in a complete fog and my brain was shutting down. Help me, I’m melting…. I must admit that I had a Starbucks on Friday and I loved it. The good news is though, I did not fall completely off the wagon and I have made it another two days without caffeine.

Takeout salads for lunch in Dallas
Today, I felt great. I felt light all day long and my brain was functioning at full capacity. I started the day with the breakfast of champions: Oatmeal with strawberries and almond milk, and of course hot lemon water.
I caught a flight to Dallas and had a working lunch with a take-out salad and I even made a bottle of cranberry water for the trip.
Dinner I shared a Maudie’s power bowl and fruit salad by Kyle.

Dinner: Power Bowl from Maudie’s
I have learned that I can live without coffee and that my body is actually thanking me for the reboot.

Let’s finish strong! We can do this!

THIAS IS MY 4TH DAY WITHOUT COFFEE AND ITS THE FIRST DAY I DONT HAVE A HEADACHE, FIRST 3 DAYS WERE THE WORST BAD MOOD AND HEADACHE ALL DAY…THATS NOT FOR ME, BUT I WILL COMPLETE MY 10 DAY COMMITMENT
Melina, pls know you are NOT alone! Kicking the coffee/caffeine addiction is NO JOKE! I have done it several times. It’s never easy and it always includes a headache and brain fog. Some experiences have been worse than others, but it’s a serious addiction, which is why coffee is a 30 Billion dollar industry! Can you believe that?!?!
You may already be doing it, but try to drink a ton of water (at least 1/2 your body weight in oz per day) because that will help more than anything. And, if you can exercise, that will help too! I promise each day will get better and by day ten, you’ll be amazed at how great you feel. Currently, I am back on my caffeine kick (it’s my crutch-dang it!), but I will be cleansing soon and will be where you are. Just know you are not alone and it DOES get better!
Keep us posted on your daily progression. We want to support you!
